I'm not a fancy Internet marketer, social media influencer, or online guru. I'm a retired educator who is passionate about learning!

In 1965, while in 4th grade, I was diagnosed with undetermined learning disabilities. The Navy doctor (I'm a military brat.) was very sympathetic and referred to me as his "Little Professor". This was long before Aspergers, Dyslexia, and other learning issues were fully understood and advanced treatment methodologies had been developed. The doctor decided that receiving additional tutoring was the best strategy for me at the time, however he had no recommendation for social skills development other than Cub Scouts and sports. I remember Cub Scouts being fun, but it turned out I was the kid nobody picked in Gym class, so essentially, I learned by doing and did my best to fit in with my peers. Life for me was confusing and often fraught with disappointment.

As a freshman in high school I struggled socially and academically, and I had difficulty focusing and fitting in. Puberty hit me hard, and much to the chagrin of my poor parents, I ran away to Haight-Asbury in the late 60s, at age 15, seeking adventure and community. Fortunately, after almost a month away, I was returned home, but not before I had seen some famous San Francisco bands and experienced a truly American phenomenon! The Haight-Asbury district of San Francisco was crackling with energy in the late 1960s...

After graduation, I enrolled in Junior College, but I was still academically undisciplined. And I lacked focus and direction. This was way back in the early 1970s. My academic performance was average at best, and guess what? I didn’t really care! I attended Junior College during the Vietnam era and had no clue what I wanted to study or what career I might be interested in. I was also terrified about being drafted, as were all of us young men, so I decided to major in FUN and minor in Philosophy. I worked part time selling women's shoes, I drove an old 1958 Corvette, and and I shared a home with 3 buddies in Pt. Pleasant Beach a few blocks from the ocean. I was living the FUN life, but there was always the feeling of impending doom. So, I read philosophical works voraciously trying to keep my mind off of my future...

Fast forward to the end of the Vietnam War and the end of my first 2-years in college. Although I was grateful for having not been drafted, I still had no real direction. On a whim, I applied to and was accepted by, the School of Visual Arts and studied photography, painting, and film-making. It was fun and glamorous to live and study in Manhattan (New York City)!

However, because I did poorly in community college, fewer than half of my college credits were accepted. This resulted in 1 extra year of college (5 vs. 4) in order to earn my Bachelor's Degree. I was disappointed. But I summoned all of my grit, and I was determined to excel in college this time, and graduated with an A- average (3.81 GPA). However, I still was unsure about my path, so I spent 6 months working on tug boats in New York Harbor and chased my favorite band around during my off time.

After milling over my future, I decided to enroll in Rutgers Graduate School of Education and earn my master’s degree in education (Ed.M). I chose Rutgers in order to study with Professor Jon Klimo. "Dr. Klimo is a leading authority on the subject of channeling and is the author of the definitive work on the topic." While at Rutgers Graduate School, in his capacity as the Program Director, he developed an experimental Arts in Education Program, not to be confused with an Art Education Program. I was captivated by the uniqueness of the program, his scholarship, and his empirical knowledge of the topic. The possibilities of incorporating art into existing curriculum were mind boggling! I graduated with an Ed.M in 1981 and as a cosmic graduation present, my favorite band played there that May!

Under the tutelage and mentorship of Dr. Klimo, and the assistant Dean of Students, Dr. Fred C. Clark, I focused on developing innovative mindset strategies for adults seeking new lives and careers. At the time I had no comprehension of how visionary this decision would become! Since I did major in Photography, my first real teaching gig involved teaching sections of photography at a community college. I later branched out to teaching sections of English, Oral Communications, and different flavors of "success" courses.

After working at a community college for almost 30 years I retired in 2025. I currently provide concierge teaching options for first year college students, English Language Learners (ELL), and adults looking for mindset training and identity re-scripting.

I also offer Consultation and Instructional Design services for practicing educators.

I am finally realizing my dream of teaching esoteric topics and mindset strategies that helped me survive as an individual with learning disabilities...
